Peer Researcher, Terrence Higgins Trust

Bakita worked as a Peer Researcher at Terrence Higgins Trust until April 2021. She conducted qualitative research and co-design studies on INTUIT. She has a particular interest in ethical engagement of participants and centring lived experiences in project and process design. As well as her role at Terrence Higgins Trust, Bakita holds a number of national and international HIV advocacy positions, including an Advisory Committee Member on WHO’s Global Validation Advisory Committee (GVAC) and a Founding Member on Viiv Healthcare’s Positive Action Strategic Advisory Committee (PA-SAC). She is also the former Chair of the Global Network of Young People Living with HIV (Y+ Global) and has recently graduated with a MA in Anthropology and Community Development from Goldsmiths College.

Peer Researcher, Terrence Higgins Trust

Shiraaz started working as a Peer Researcher at Terrence Higgins Trust in July 2021. He conducts qualitative research and co-design studies on INTUIT. He recently graduated with an MSc Health Psychology from University College London. He has worked in the HIV/Sexual Health sector since 2017 and his work has focussed on supporting others to improve their sexual health, relationships, and emotional wellbeing. Alongside his Peer Researcher role at Terrence Higgins Trust, he works as Peer Navigator at Positively UK where he provides one to one support to patients living with HIV at an East London HIV clinic. He is also a Trustee at PLUSHEALTH, an online HIV Peer Support charity, and leads on the development and design of how impact is measured. This work supports the development of service delivery and income generation strategies to ensure appropriate service delivery.
